Wood and Acrylic Bookshelf Speaker Plans

$10.00

Plans for wood and acrylic bookshelf speakers featuring edge-lit acrylic sides and Alexa compatibility.

This project was an inevitable confluence of several of my passions including electronics, LEDs, woodworking, CNC machining and, of course, music! I’ve attempted several DIY speakers over the years, but this was my first dive into the world of HiFi speaker building (with a twist). These instructions will walk you through most of the steps I followed to build these beautiful sound makers, and whatever I don’t cover can easily be found in the numerous Wiki’s and docs on the interwebs.

These plans include a BOM, schematics, cut list, and step-by-step instructions on how to build these speakers from scratch.

To complete this build as I did, you’ll need a CNC router with a minimum work area of 205mm x 305mm.

Other tools you’ll need include:

  • Drill

  • Soldering Iron + Solder

  • 22 AWG Wire

  • Various Drill Bits

  • Razor Blade

  • Miter Saw or Table Saw

  • Sand Paper

  • Sanding Block

  • Thickness Planer (or lots of sand paper and patience.)

  • Small flathead Screw Driver

  • Computer

  • Micro USB Cable

  • Hot Glue Gun

Good luck, and have fun!
